Random Thoughts on a Friday…

News Flash – Today the campaign welcomed a new person to the race; Shane Jett is the 6th Republican in the race.  He is from Tecumseh, here is the story from the Tecumseh newspaper printed on Thursday March 11 – http://ow.ly/1isfv

I know a job is a job, but driving to lunch today, I passed a man with a red wig and blue dress dancing in the median directing people toward Wendy’s.  It was disturbing.  While I am accustomed to the Statue of Liberty during tax time and the random guy waving me toward pizza, I was a little taken back with the Wendy’s girl (guy).  Sorry, I can’t be swayed by random costumes in the median.  Instead, I drove past him and went down the street to the yellow chicken waving me into Pizza Hut.  We officially have a tough economy when the greatest job growth (outside of federal government jobs) seems to be in the “animated modeling business.”

I talked with a friend last night who asked me an interesting question, “why do so many people go to Washington DC and lose their way?”  I have heard that thought multiple times from people as they challenge me not to “change” if I am elected.  My response last night was simple, I don’t think people go to DC and lose their way, I think DC reveals who they always have been, but we could not see it.  Proverbs 27:21 says, “The crucible is for silver and the furnace for gold, but man is tested by the praise he receives.”  Add power, position and influence to a person and you will find out who they really are inside.  God help us all to be authentic in every situation and location.
