I would like to see a BAN or make it illegal for Congress to borrow from The Social Security Fund, no exceptions.
I would like to see a public works project for the installation of a secure border wall/fence/barrier. There are numerous advantages to this, political, economical, and nationally.
First, I would like to offer those people that are in the United States illegally the opportunity of becoming citizens by assisting in the construction of the border barrier. The project would require them to work on the construction of the barrier for several months to a year, with days off to study traditional American citizenship curriculum (national history, laws, customs, languages). When each illegal immigrant has finished their agreed portion of the project, they would be given the citizenship exam, and if successful, would become welcome American citizens – with all the rights afforded to them by our Constitution.
Secondly, this project would require extensive materials and manpower, which would boost the country economically by hiring foreman, engineers, contractors, teachers, and other support staff for the duration of the project. The project would be financed in combination with the border states and the federal government, the advantage of this being each state has some say in how the border barrier would be constructed within the state’s borders.
Third, the border barrier would be a large scale project with several key features benefitting the nation. It would be quite impassible by foot or vehicle – this would reduce the amount of illegal aliens entering the country, as well as reduce the flow of illegal drugs across wide open borders.
Also, the construction of the border barrier would establish public structures and facilites that could be utilized to detain any future illegal immigrants, or to process legal immigrants into the country. Additionally, the barrier would also offer the advantage of being quickly militarized should our country come under assault from a hostile nation.
I believe that this method would be politically viable because of the aforementioned benefits, and that the nation would be better served by a public works project of this magnitude.
Please consider this when we send you as our representative to Congress.
