I would like to see a BAN or make it illegal for Congress to borrow from The Social Security Fund, no exceptions.
I would like to see a public works project for the installation of a secure border wall/fence/barrier. There are numerous advantages to this, political, economical, and nationally.
First, I would like to offer those people that are in the United States illegally the opportunity of becoming citizens by assisting in the construction of the border barrier. The project would require them to work on the construction of the barrier for several months to a year, with days off to study traditional American citizenship curriculum (national history, laws, customs, languages). When each illegal immigrant has finished their agreed portion of the project, they would be given the citizenship exam, and if successful, would become welcome American citizens – with all the rights afforded to them by our Constitution.
Secondly, this project would require extensive materials and manpower, which would boost the country economically by hiring foreman, engineers, contractors, teachers, and other support staff for the duration of the project. The project would be financed in combination with the border states and the federal government, the advantage of this being each state has some say in how the border barrier would be constructed within the state’s borders.
Third, the border barrier would be a large scale project with several key features benefitting the nation. It would be quite impassible by foot or vehicle – this would reduce the amount of illegal aliens entering the country, as well as reduce the flow of illegal drugs across wide open borders.
Also, the construction of the border barrier would establish public structures and facilites that could be utilized to detain any future illegal immigrants, or to process legal immigrants into the country. Additionally, the barrier would also offer the advantage of being quickly militarized should our country come under assault from a hostile nation.
I believe that this method would be politically viable because of the aforementioned benefits, and that the nation would be better served by a public works project of this magnitude.
Please consider this when we send you as our representative to Congress.
EMINENT DOMAIN ABUSE, as practiced by Midwest City, ruins families that worked for their own homes, and Yes, those homes WERE to be their retirement ! Some won’t get the chance to rebuild home ownership again. We awaited our chance to benefit from MAPS but the City yanked Everything from many of us. OKC actions didn’t do people that bad!
PLEASE *do* remember that – to balance what some want versus the effect.
We won before the Oklahoma Supreme Court, but then, the infamous “Kelo” decision, and a retroactive (can regular people go back and redo things retroactively?) vote by Midwest City after homes were bulldozed and the dirty deed done. Progress is fine, but the method was Morbidly WRONG !!!!

I like the Public Works idea above – for work that needs to be done, and will serve to employ peoples too. Government sold out our jobs and our futures – for some of us, our very owned homes – same time as our jobs/job-sites, and now must start over.

Please make the effort to see things from point-of-view of those not as fortunate as well. That is what the REPUBs of pre-2008 did NOT do, and why Obama got to where he is now.
Profit and going after more consumers, and turning little people into a Permanent Class of Debtors (I thought we were to get our chance to be owners – not so – the City ! ) are NOT the only motives for Gov’t, while we and our very Nation go under.
I continue to be for Israel’s strength, as well as our own. Strength lessens war; perceived weakness brings it on.

We awaited our chance to benefit from MAPS but it was yanked from many of us for government and large business, without fair compensation.

The nation does need an agency to watch out for consumers! The situation has gotten completely one-sided there, and again, so many must now start over. That is being denied.

Hi, So far I like what I’m reading and what you have to say. But there are a few items that are fglaoting around that I honestly feel need to be addressed.
1. Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: “Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.”
What are your thoughts and leanings toward this type of legislation?
2. I am subject to random drug testing for my work. Why is this not something that applies to welfare recipients as well? It is known that a good number of folks on welfare shouldn’t be. Yes, there are some people who need it, but we all know there are those abusing it. That’s a tax burden that also needs to be addressed…
Thank you
Thomas J. Herman
End the Federal Reserve.
“Social Security benefits are the foundation on which to build a financially secure retirement.”
I saw this on the social security website.
This is the nanny-state entitlement mentality that will destroy our republic.
